Aquata Bikini Top

Free crochet pattern. Bikini/crop top

For this top you can use a 3.25 crochet hook if you want to use Aunt Lydia’s Fashion Crochet Thread. Use a 2.5 or 3mm for DMC Petra Crochet Cotton.
A small is usually 7 rounds, medium is 8-9 and a large is 10-11
This pattern is for a medium of 8 rounds, so based on the pattern, you adjust the stitches to suit.

chain 19
R1: DC in 5th chain from hook, 3DC in last chain (18DC) chain 2, 3DC in the 1st chain (other side) DC along. (18DC, chain 1, 18DC)
R2-8: chain 3, DC along, 2 DC in chain 2 space from previous round, chain 2, 2 DC in chain 2 space, DC along to end of row. (R2: 20DC, chain 1, 20 DC) (R6: 30DC, chain 1, 30DC)
(Make 2 cups)
Turn the cups sideways
To attach them, either single crochet along one side and continue single crochet onto the other cup. or you can slip stitch along the chain 2 spaces in the cups. I used the slip stitch.
Top mesh area
R1: chain 6, skip 3stitches , DC,chain 3, skip 3 stitches. Continue til the end of 1 cup and mirror the pattern onto the other cup. (for this sized top, I reached the last DC from the actual cups but if you don’t with a different size,  free to add a chain or 2 before mirroring)
R2: SC along the entire row (1SC in DC, 3SC in chain 3 space etc)
R3: chain 6, skip 3stitches , DC,chain 3, skip 3 stitches. Continue til there are 4 stitches at the end of 1 cup, chain5 and mirror the pattern onto the other cup.
R4: SC along the entire row (1SC in DC, 3SC in chain 3 space, 5SC in chain 5space, etc)
R5: HDC along the entire row.
R6: (this row should have a centre of 5 for this size, use stitch markers- adjust for different sizes). Chain 6, skip 3stitches , DC,chain 3, skip 3 stitches. (Continue til there are 5HDC stitches in the middle of the row).  Chain3* and mirror the pattern onto the other cup.
R7: chain 6, skip 3stitches , DC(in previous DC) ,chain 2, skip 3 stitches. Continue til the chain 3* space from previous round and DC in that space. Mirror the pattern onto the other cup.
R8: SC along the entire row
Bottom mesh area
R1: chain 6, skip 3stitches , DC,chain 3, skip 3 stitches. (for this sized top, I had 3DC from the actual cups remaining but if you don’t, with a different size, free to add a chain or 2 before mirroring)
R2: chain 6, skip 3stitches , DC,chain 3, skip 3 stitches. Chain5* at centre, (or more depending on top size). Mirror pattern onto other cup.
R3: chain 6, skip 3stitches , DC(in previous DC) ,chain 2, skip 3 stitches. Continue til the chain 5* space from previous round and DC in that space. Mirror the pattern onto the other cup.
R4: SC along entire row
R5: (Use 2SC in vertical DCs at the bottom or what is now the side of the cups). SC around the entire top. (Use stitch markers to know where the straps would be)
For the straps,
Chain 100 or desired length, HDC along slip stitch into that same stitch, slip stitch to the stitch marker designated for the straps and repeat.
TIP: use paper clips for stitch markers or hair pins.

Hi Christina, I’m not sure what you mean but if it’s that you want to use a different yarn, try working the pattern and measuring against yourself until you reach the ideal size. Then when you get to the mesh sections, you may have to omit or increase the stitches according to the pattern of each row.
